Character Information
Name: Cipher (Alisa Tager)
Age: Seventeen
Fandom: Marvel Comics
Point In Fandom Taken From: Young X-Men #7, before the subsequent outing of herself.
Employee or Patient? Staff – orderly/security (Her existence is on a need-to-know basis.)
Personality: Never popular due to her habit of putting her foot in her mouth with a bit of a sarcastic wit she has trouble controlling, she had enough friends to say she was happy, comfortable. She was a studier – her parents expected nothing less than straight A’s which she did her best to accomplish. She was never really perfect in school so it took a lot of hard work and a lot of books to make them happy. What she was good at was physical activity – gymnastics, track and field, softball, swim meets. That sort of thing. She never classified herself as a jock but she was pretty damn close.
She’s withdrawn though she tries her best to still be a nice person. She’s not actually shy, per say, and knows very little about personal boundaries. She’s not at all bothered by having to burst in on people in intimate situations or changing clothes for example. She has a can do personality and is more than willing to try anything once. She’s almost obsessive about training and it is highly likely that she will at some point run herself into the ground from exhaustion.
Alisa takes advantage of her invisibility and spends most of her time in that state. She likes her privacy and does not really share a whole lot about herself. In bad situations, she’s the one who runs for help and shouts that the British are coming. She hates that she’s not particularly useful in active combat like a lot of the other people in the compound. She can’t even evade the zombies because of the whole scent factor which irks her to no end. She doesn’t really let people get close to her and can seem closed off and freakish to most people – mostly because of her constant spying on people. Any information is good information and she kind of risks friendships because of this. She trusts very few people and she’s pretty certain very few people trust her. It’s a lose-lose moment of paranoia.
When it comes to certain... romantic-y things, she’s at a loss. She wouldn’t know what to do with a boy if the information came swimming up and bit her on the behind. She didn’t get a chance to learn in school and now that the world’s coming to an end, who cares?
Brief History:
FANON HISTORY BEGINS HERE
Alisa Tager was born to two well to do parents – one being a surgeon, the other a stay at home mother but with her own fat stack of cash. She had an older brother named Michael who was always a little off... Alisa did well in school, had friends and was on her way to the Youth Olympics for gymnastics. Then something happened... Her parents died in a strange car accident that no one could explain. Michael was eighteen so he volunteered to take fourteen year old Alisa under his wing, care for her and what not. The only thing was that Michael was pretty much a psychopath and started torturing her in their basement. It was only when her powers manifested that she managed to get away and head to Xavier’s.
END OF FANON HISTORY
Cipher prefers her privacy and she rarely goes by her real name. She spends as much of her time in a state of invisibility because she’s terrified of a certain person (Michael) finding her. She knows how to fly the Blackbird. She has a deep respect for Scott Summers and not having him around is going to wreck her. She’s been working with the X-Men for a fair piece – one of those moments in which Jean Grey was still alive and she was the one who first located Alisa. After Jean died, Scott kept Alisa’s existence totally secret and only two other people knew about her – Graymalkin and Blindfold.
She’s a kind of girl who does what needs to be done, whether it’s convincing someone to kill Cyclops (Donald Pierce in disguise) or stealing a jet to drag someone to a fight... She doesn’t trust anyone. At least not easily and can be kind of a mega bitch when it comes to people trying to pry information out about her. She is certain very few people trust her because of her abilities and it makes her paranoid... So really, it’s a lose-lose situation.
Cipher’s actually been lurking in Lennox for awhile but only certain people know she exists and the ones that think they should but don’t will be really mad when they find out...
List of Abilities/Powers: Alisa’s powers start with full spectrum invisibility. She doesn’t bend light like some but seems to almost disappear completely. This doesn’t allow her to make any sort of shield, weaponry or whatever else a la Sue Storm or make one of those items itself invisible. It’s just invisibility, extended as far as her clothes or small items in her hands. In this state and in this state alone, she is capable of making herself entirely inaudible to everyone or allow only certain individuals to hear her. Her abilities continue on with phasing - she can pass through solid matter without disturbing it or float on the air while being intangible. Unless, of course, something is made of Vibranium. None of these abilities, except the sound manipulation, can be extended to other people.
There’s... One other thing. Cipher is gifted with telepathic immunity. In her invisible state, only a really powerful telepath (Canonly, Phoenix) can get a bead on her mind. Alisa practices this skill quite a bit with her invisibility because, in her words, she “likes her privacy.”
Abilities: Some marital arts training, pilot a stealth jet, Olympic level gymnastics, freewalking, lying
